Spectre x360 convertible 15-bl0018CA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a 2017 HP Spectre x360 Convertible 15-bl0018CA with a dual core i7-7500U CPU which I purchased last year.

I was wondering if it were possible to upgrade the Motherboard to the one used by the 15-bl100 Spectre currently on the market (Part number 941662-601). This mother has a i7-8550U quad core. I am finding the dual-core configuration I have is a bit too sluggish for me. I realize doing so will void the remaining warranty.  Bios/firmware/drivers are all up to date

Yes you can upgrade it,

System board (includes processor and replacement thermal material; system board spare part kits include replacement rubber feet),
Intel Core i7-8550U processor, 2-GB of discrete graphics memory, and the Windows 10 operating system : 941662-601

$850, very very very very costly

You have to shell out more than half of the cost of notebook with same board: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hp-spectre-x360-2-in-1-15-6-4k-ultra-hd-touch-screen-laptop-intel-core-...

Yes it will void warranty, and you've to tattoo the BIOS chip with hardware hashes if not already done, may have Windows 10 activation issues which you've to sight it out yourself.

I'll buy the newer model selling this one.

Thanks for a quick response Visruth. I did figure on having to call Microsoft to re-authorize my version of windows 10, but the potential BIOS issues, and cost, doesn't seem to warrant the upgrade.

Thanks again.
