HP 250 G6 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi community

I have a  HP 260 G6 notebook pc with 240gb SSD disc , i5, 8 RAM, 7200 CPU, year 2017
My storage 240 gb is now full, so i cant save anymore videos or pictures from my phone which is my main issue.
I d really appriciate some help on the topic of the ssd compatibility.

I already bought a new bigger ssd /2tb/SAMSUNG 970 EVO PLUS Samsung SSD disk 970 EVO Plus 2 TB, M.2, PCI-e NVMe, TLC | mimovrste=)

which was said to work at lower speed but work, becouse the slot is M2.
When i came to collect the computer from the store, the computer specialist told me that the computer did not recognise the new ssd disc nor one other sata ssd disk he tried. I returned the ssd to the shop, bur the issue with storage remains.
The specialists suggested to buy a newer computer with 1tb storage. That i really not want, because i am satisfied with the existing computer, i just need more place for storage.

I have also checked the hp store and for my computer it only offers the ssd disk that i already have (same storage), no more.
Any suggestions what to buy, so that it will work?  If i dont find anything for internal i ll buy external ssd.

Monika

Hi, Monika:

If your notebook's 240 GB drive was of the M.2 form factor, the M.2 slot should support larger capacity M.2 SATA SSD's.

It will not support M.2 NVMe SSDs as NVMe SSD support was not offered until the 250 G7 model series with the Intel core processors came out.

So, that is why the Samsung 970 EVO Plus drive didn't work.

See chapter 1 of the service manual for the supported drive types:

HP 250 G6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide

One of the Western Digital Blue SA510 M.2 SATA SSD's should work.

This is the 2 TB model, for example:
