Hi, so I'm thinking of doing some upgrades to my laptop.  Is my laptop upgradeable to have an SSD?   Is it specifically "M.2 SSD" type?  If so, what's it's the max size?  My hard drive is 1 TB.

Also, is there a way to test if the built-in subwoofer works?

CTO is for Configure To Order that means you have a list off options and you and select/add option or options then buy. You can use the following M.2 SATA SSD's products

1TG  :       https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-15t-ae100-cto/CT12358407

500GB:   https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-15t-ae100-cto/CT12358487

Your machine is a CTO machine therefore we don't know its REAL specs. The M.2 option is only for machines with i7 processor and you have to ADD when order your machine. You can upgrade to 2.5" SSD. for sure.

Play a sample musics file and use your ears.

Hi Banhien,

What does CTO mean?  I purchased the laptop through HP online.  I do have an i7 and 8GB RAM.

So, I can purchase an M.2 because I have an i7 or no, because I didn't customize to add it when I built it online?  I figured, if the slot is there, I could add it, which it seems like it probably is there?

You said I can upgrade to a 2.5" SSD?  What's the difference between that and the M.2?  I am a bit confused there.  Where can I find out how high I can go for the SSD?   I would like it to be the same size as my regular hard drive and figure out how to transition all my info from the hard drive it came with to the SSD to speed up boot time, etc.

I am going to probably buy the 1 TB.  Thank you so much for finding me this.

I have one last question though.  In the inside of this model, is this an addition to the hard drive (for example, there is a special slot for it) or is it as a replacement for the hard drive (I remove the old one and stick the SSD in?).
