Yes there is an M.2 slot to the left of the battery in the pictures found in the Manual:
See the top picture on p. 35 for example.
The manual only lists a 128 and 256 gig M.2 NVME but you can use any size.
Samsung PM961 is the kind specified by HP:

Should this model also fit well?

It will fit but I purposely did not recommend the Evo since some have reported compatibility issues. I have installed the SM951 and PM961 in 3 different HPs and have had no issues.

Hi,
I have a laptop pavilion 15-bc201nl too and I would like to know if once installed an M.2 Pcie SSD on the internal slot available, I can transfer the operating system from HDD to SSD and make the boot from the latter, keeping the HDD only for big file storage. Indeed, it would not be worth adding a PCIe SSD if it is not possible to boot from there and in that case it may be more convenient to completely replace the HDD with a 2.5" SATA SSD.
Thanks.

Hey,
When you installed the samsung pm961 on the laptop, did you also install the os on it or just for storage?
I am on the edge of buying a intel 760p / samsung 960 evo( which is seemingly not a clever option) and now this pm961. I'm thinking of the 256 gb version and I want to install the OS on it so I can get faster boot time
