Hi:

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.

h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493257.pdf

Chapter 1 has the supported drive types.

Your notebook's M.2 slot supports SATA SSD's only, not NVMe.

This model series provides the best performance for the price, in my opinion.

250 GB

Amazon.in: Buy Western Digital WD Blue m.2 SATA SSD, 550MB/s R, 525MB/s W, 5 Y Warranty, 250GB Onlin...

500 GB

Amazon.in: Buy Western Digital WD Blue m.2 SATA SSD, 560MB/s R, 530MB/s W, 5 Y Warranty, 500GB Onlin...

Does this mean that I cannot use the 500GB M.2 SSD ?

HP Recommended

You should be able to use a 500 GB SSD with no problem.

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the max capacity supported.

But the laptop did not came with SSD installed, only a HDD was installed.

I don't understand your concern.

You could probably have a 2 TB hard drive and a 2TB M.2 SATA SSD working together if you wanted to.

HP Recommended

Okay, I was just worried after I saw the manual. Thanks for clearing the doubt.

You're very welcome.

HP normally only offers a few drive configurations, and when you start getting into the larger storage capacities, it makes the notebook too expensive for most people to afford.
