The SSD disk that was installed in the laptop died yesterday. It was a SATA SSD M2 disk (ADATA ASP900NS38-512GM-C). I read on this forum that information on memory support should be looked at on the crucial site: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Replacing-hardwear/td-p/705155...
I checked the crucial website, it confirms that my laptop supports NVMe SSD drives:
https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/hp-omen-17-w109ng
So I bought myself a replacement SSD PCIe Gen3 x4 NVMe SiliconPower SP512GBP34A80M28
I installed this new disk in my laptop, but the laptop does not see this disk in the BIOS.
What is my problem? Laptop does not support nvme SSD disk? Or is the problem in the SSD disk?
PS. I updated the BIOS to the penultimate version F.55. I am unable to update to the latest version F.56. I am discussing this issue in the next branch: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/I-can-not-update-the-BIOS-F-50...

Thank you very much for your explanations! They clarified a lot in my problem.
I handed over the SSD to SiliconPower, to the store as not a worker. They should check it within a few days, after which they will return the money to me.
I also bought a new SSD NVMe PCIe CRUCIAL P2 CT500P2SSD8 500GB. I came home and successfully put it into my laptop. The disk is working. I have already installed the system on it, everything works fine.
PS. I would also like to note that the documentation for the laptop says that the maximum amount of RAM is 16GB. But I have 32GB installed in my laptop right now. This is just a note about trusting the information that is listed in the documentation.

It used M.2 SATA SSD and you replaced wit M.2 NVMe SSD. Why not use one-for-one?
Regards.

Hi:
Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that both SATA and NVMe SSD's are supported, so unfortunately I don't know what the problem could be.
OMEN by HP Laptop PC Maintenance and Service Guide
Either the SSD you bought is defective or incompatible, or the manual is incorrect, and only SATA SSD's are supported.
You may want to play it safe and exchange the NVMe SSD for a SATA one, as Banhien suggested.

I have a fairly powerful laptop. I wanted to improve performance by increasing the bandwidth of the system disk. That is why I replaced SATA SSD with NVMe SSD.
Thank you very much for the link to the service manual. I wanted to clarify with you, where did you find it? I tried searching through the support page at hp.com but to no avail. There is only a user manual which is generally useless. Please tell us where you found this document? Purely for future understanding.
Today I will try to change my SSD disk to another manufacturer in the store and write about the results.
Thanks for your help!

You're very welcome.
The first thing to do would be to search for the support page for the base model.
Since your notebook is a 17-W109ng, you drop the '9ng' and use 17-W100.
OMEN by HP 17-w100 Laptop PC series Manuals | HP® Customer Support
All of the service manuals are in English, so you would have to change the country flag at the bottom of the website from Russia to the USA, and then the service manual would show up under the manuals section of the support page.
Maybe you can try a different brand/model NVMe SSD.
This seems to be a popular model in Russia...
If that doesn't work either, then the service manual must be in error regarding NVMe SSD support.

You're very welcome.
There is no doubt that the service manuals are not always correct regarding the specs.
If anyone has doubts about memory upgrade info, I always suggest that they do this...
1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator. This will open the command prompt.
2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacity and hit enter. There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.
The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.
