HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0027ur
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My father has an HP Gaming Pavilion - 15-cx0027ur. I wanted to put a Kingston kc2500 nvme (250gb) SSD in it. The standard kingston utility determined the presence of a disk in the computer, the new disk was not detected in the BIOS, nothing helped. Explain what could have happened, why the disk does not work, or does this computer need some specific ssd model?

Hi:

Chapter 1 of the service manual indicates that both SATA and NVMe SSD's are supported.

Have you tried installing Windows on the SSD?

On some model notebooks for whatever reason, the NVMe SSD does not show up in the BIOS or in the boot options menu, but it works fine.

Temporarily disconnect the 2.5" drive and see if you can install W10 on the SSD.

If Windows finds the drive, installs and works fine, then you can reconnect the 2.5" drive format it, and use it for extra storage.

Dear Paul, thanks for a quick answer!

So, the only limitation is the volume, not more than 256gb?

I tried copy Windows using Acronis, but it was unsuccessfully . So that is, if the BIOS does not detect a disk, then it can only be used to store something, but it will not work in any way to start the system, like the main disk?

Thanks a lot for a guide. Today I visited service centre of a shop where I bought ssd and they told me it was defective ..

You're very welcome.

The drive capacities listed in the manual are just what HP offered in the model series, not the maximum capacity supported.

Since you have determined that the NVMe drive you installed was defective, hopefully a replacement will work the way it is supposed to.

If the replacement disk does not show up in the boot options menu (hopefully it will show up in the BIOS), that is probably normal for your notebook's model series.

I suggest that you temporarily disconnect the hard drive and use the cloud recovery tool to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook on the new SSD.

Here is an info link for how to use the utility...you will need a 32 GB USB flash drive for this purpose.
