That sounds like a great idea and great forward thinking!

Of the 2 drives below, regular price, normally #1 runs about $35 more than #2 below.  Today #1 is on sale and is only $3 more than #2's regular price.  I'm going with number #1 since it has the potential to run faster if used on a Gen 4 machine.

  1. Crucial P310 1TB 2280 PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD – Up to 7,100 MB/s – Shift up to Gen4, with Acronis Offer, Internal Solid State Drive (PC) – CT1000P310SSD801
  2. Crucial P3 Plus 1TB PCIe Gen4 3D NAND NVMe M.2 SSD, up to 5000MB/s - CT1000P3PSSD8

Thanks again Paul. You have been very helpful.

You definitely want the first one with the faster read/write speeds for only $3 more.

The faster the Gen 4 drive is, the closer it will run near the 4000 MBPS speed from the Gen 3.0 slot.

Thanks Paul! Much appreciated!

Until next time. Who knows what I may want to upgraded next. LOL

I'm no expert and only know the basics about about computers,  but I'm mechanically inclined enough to remove and install the hardware!

Thanks again.

Have a great weekend!

Hi Paul!

One more question - Any suggestions on a good, safe and free SSD cloning software? I want to clone the new 1TB drive instead of re-installing windows and the rest of my stuff in the new drive.

Co-Pilot suggests Macrium Reflect Free. I have no clue which to choose. I don't want to blow up my HP Spectre! LOL

Thanks!

David.

Hi, Dave:

If you are buying a Crucial drive, they allow this software to be used for free:
