That sounds like a great idea and great forward thinking!
Of the 2 drives below, regular price, normally #1 runs about $35 more than #2 below. Today #1 is on sale and is only $3 more than #2's regular price. I'm going with number #1 since it has the potential to run faster if used on a Gen 4 machine.

Hi Paul!
One more question - Any suggestions on a good, safe and free SSD cloning software? I want to clone the new 1TB drive instead of re-installing windows and the rest of my stuff in the new drive.
Co-Pilot suggests Macrium Reflect Free. I have no clue which to choose. I don't want to blow up my HP Spectre! LOL
