HP ENVY 15-AS004LA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi, I'm trying to upgrade the SSD of my ENVY 15-AS004LA laptop, it originally came with a 128GB M.2 2280 SATA III NGFF Solid State SSD (HP 857484-001). The reference manual says that the SSD can be upgraded up to 512GB.

So, I got the HP EX950 M.2 512GB PCIe 3.1 x4 NVMe 3D TLC NAND from Amazon and tried to clone my current Windows installation, but whenever I try to boot from it, it just won't do. Now I'm trying to create a Windows recovery USB drive to make a fresh install, but before I probably waste more time, I'd like to know if the EX950 is indeed compatible with my laptop. I have read the manual and it say it does, but I'm not really sure anymore.

Hi,

It should be compatible according to the service manual.

You should try a clean install and see is the SSD is seen by Windows during installation.
