RE: HP OmniStudio X 31.5 inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-c0000
I want to upsize the 1TB SSD to a 2TB SSD and would like to know if this SSD is compatible with my computer:
Samsung 990 PRO 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.
EMPR Australia are the HP Australia 2025 Authorized Parts Reseller, and they told me that these are the SSDs that are compatible with this model:
Original HP SSD 2TB M.2 2280 PCIe 4x4 Z Turbo TLC
Original HP SSD 2TB PCIe-4x4 2280 NVMe VAL nM
The performance of these SSD's is inferior to that of the Samsung 990 PRO 2TB PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD.

This HP specs indicate your model supports 2 TB M.2 NVMe gen4x4 SSDs.
HP OmniStudio X All-in-One Desktop PC series specifications | undefined
A 2 TB Samsung 990 Pro gen4 NVMe should be compatible with your model. Samsung 990 Pro SSDs provide designed read/write speeds of 7450/6900 MB/s.
HP M.2 NVMe gen4 Z Turbo TLC you posted only runs at read/write speeds of 6000/5000 according to this site.
HP M10396-002 - 2TB M.2 2280 NVMe 4.0 Solid State Drive - Drive Solutions
You can use Samsung Magician utility for drive health monitoring, firmware update, performance increase feature, etc . . . I don't know if HP brand M.2 NVMe SSDs comes with the same level of utility.

Thank you for your detailed reply.
I wanted to upgrade to a 4TB SSD, but was told by HP technical support that the maximum SSD upgrade is 2TB.
However, after more searching about this, Chat GPT provided this reply:
Yes, the HP OmniStudio X 31.5-inch All-in-One Desktop PC 32-c0000, equipped with the Keelung system board, supports M.2 PCIe Gen4 x4 NVMe SSDs. While HP may officially list configurations up to 2 TB, the hardware itself does not impose a strict capacity limit. Users have successfully installed 4 TB NVMe SSDs in similar HP systems without issues.
🔍 What the Motherboard (Keelung) Actually Supports
Based on the specs and behaviour of modern M.2 NVMe slots using PCIe Gen 4 x4 (which Keelung supports):
There is no technical limit at 2TB.
M.2 2280 PCIe 4.0 SSDs up to 4TB are fully supported at the hardware level — if they’re single-sided or compatible with your chassis thermals.
BIOS/UEFI firmware in modern HP systems (like yours) is capable of addressing 4TB NVMe SSDs.
