Hi,

Currently the laptop is on stock hdd with win8.

I bought a crucial brand SSD, and tried to do clean install of win10 via a usb bootable drive.

Right out of SSD box, I placed it in the laptop.

The win 10 installation is not able to identify the SSD.

The laptop is able to detect the SSD when I press f9 to choose an option to boot from.

No, I didn't use sata to usb connector to initialise the drive before doing a clean install.

I was able to see the drive in win10 installation step, sometimes. When I see it it runs into winload.exe missing issue.

Please help.

Is this laptop model compatible for ssd Upgrade?

If yes, can I not do a clean install on SSD right out of it's box?

Welcome to HP Community

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

As per the Service Guide: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03960968 your Notebook supports the following SSD hard drives

Did you create the USB Recovery Media or did you get it from HP?

Keep me posted
