Hi,

The service manual mentions support for M2 SATA3 SSD such as the M2 Samsung 860 Evo which is considered one of the best price/performance SSDs.

However, before buying the SSD it is a good idea to remove the bottom cover and check if the slot is present on the motherboard, as sometimes notebooks that did not come with M2 SSD are missing physical slot on the motherboard. On page 29 of the service manual, you can see the steps to remove the base enclosure.

If the slot is present you can insert a M2SATA3 SSD of your desired capacity and keep the HDD for storage. You will need to install the OS and software on the SSD for performance gain.

You could also upgrade the RAM to at least 8GB by adding another 4GB stick.(max 32GB)

Hope it helps,

David

Firstly, it supports M.2 SATA SSD's therefore NVMe is out of question. You can use Samsung 3D NAND series or the following compatible guaranteed products from Crucial

   250GB: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667307

   500GB: https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667343

   1TB :     https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/pavilion-15-au639tx/CT11667324

And yes, you can use dual storage (M.2 SSD + existing HĐ) on your machine.

Regards.

Thanx sir for the reply.

I have one doubt that the page 77 under SSD specifications , it says that 256 GB M2 NVMe is supported..

You can see that attached screenshot.

It must be a mistake in the service manual. Nowhere is mentioned support for M2 PCIe NVMe SSD.

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you sir for helping me out.

Please let me know whether or not enambling the AHCI option in the UEFI does any harm to SSD life??

Would you suggest me to enable it??
