Hi:

HP only has the service manual for the older 14-dq0xxx model series.

Maintenance and Service Guide HP 14 Laptop PC

Chapter 1 has the memory and SSD upgrade info.

Your notebook comes with a 256 GB NVMe SSD, so you can install one having a larger storage capacity if you want.

Since the notebook has a PCIe Gen 3 NVMe slot, upgrading to a Gen 4 NVMe SSD would not benefit you, unless you planned on moving the Gen 4 SSD to a newer model notebook in the future.

You can probably upgrade the memory to 2 x 16 GB of DDR4-3200 in your model notebook if you wanted to.

You can do this to confirm how much memory your notebook can support...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Hi Paul,

Thank you, need some more help to determine which SSD and RAM  I can install.

I do not have plans on moving the Gen 4 SSD to newer model notebook in the future, so can I buy a 1TB PCIe Gen 3 NVMe?

When I search for  PCIe Gen 3 NVMe, I see results like gen3 x 4, below are some results from Amazon.

Silicon Power 1TB - NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 2280 SSD (SP001TBP34A60M28)

Western Digital 1TB WD Green SN350 NVMe Internal SSD Solid State Drive - Gen3 PCIe, QLC, M.2 2280, U...

I ran the command you mentioned in the cmd, it showed 32. I just want to make it 16GB, which type of 8GB RAM is compatible with the existing 8GB for this notebook?

Appreciate your help.

Thanks,

Avinash
