hp 15-ay120ne
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I have 2 simple questions that need to be addressed.

1. is a SSD drive (upto 512GB compatible)?

2. is a SATA caddy compatible, as I plan to add 2 SSD's in my system? I keep hearing caddies have compatibility issues with certain hardware.

my system is: hp 15-ay120ne purchased in December 2016.

Windows 10 64bit.

16GB RAM

1TB HDD SATA and Optical drive.

Answers would be highly appreciated prior to making any commitments to upgrade system.

thanks.

In many cases, controllers for ODD's (CD/DVD drives) are NOT SATA III that means SLOWer. Put SSD/HDD to a caddy is the last option to increase storage.

It is much better replace existing 1 TB 5400 rpm SATA with 2TB of 2.5" SDD, at the end would be cheaper and more reliable.

Sir,

From your reply I am assuming a caddy in the DVD slot will allow me to add a second SSD. Assuming it will be slow, agreed, but will it be equal to HDD performance, or literally, SLOWer?

Thanks for your quick and clearly precise response! 🙂
