15-p077tx is the model. If by SSD you mean 2.5 inch SATA yes your laptop can support such a drive in lieu of/as replacement for the mechanical hard drive. This is the Service Manual:

Manual

It cannot support one of the new "gumstick" type M.2 SSDs. There is no slot for that.

So something like this would work:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-Internal-MZ-76E250B-AM/dp/B0781Z7Y3S/ref=sr_1_7_acs_osp_osp22-d...

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if its the info you needed.

Thanks Huffer! I'm gonna go for it. But before i do, i wanted to know what is the process to migrate the existing HDD data to the new SSD. Can you please point me in the right direction.

Use a product called Macrium Reflect Free...its literally free. Install it on a computer and it gives you the option to make a bootable usb disk with the program on it. Get a usb to SATA adapter ($12 or so on amazon.com) and hook up the new SSD externally. Boot from the Macrium USB and select to clone the internal hard drive to the SSD which copies the hard drive to SSD. Swap the SSD into the computer and boot from it. That easy but we are here to help with the details if you wish.

That helps. Thanks a ton!
