Thanks, I will try this driver and get back to you.
Update: None of 4 files in the VMD section worked either 😞
I assume this issue is either with HP or with the SSD just not working at all on my end.
Update 2: I ran diagnostics on the laptop and it says no hard drive is installed. :")

That diagnostics report isn't good news.
I recommend you abandon your project and reinstall W11 with the HP cloud recovery tool created media, which would have the storage controller driver your notebook needs.
You can use the HP cloud recovery tool and a 32 GB USB flash drive to create a bootable USB recovery drive that will reinstall W10, the drivers and the software that originally came with your notebook.
Here is an info link for how to use the utility.
HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10 | HP® Customer Support
Since you have to use the utility on another PC, you will need to enter your notebook's product number in the tool's search window in order to proceed to make the recovery media.
Your PC's product number is: 4S171UA#ABA
If that doesn't work either, your notebook probably has a NVMe drive or storage controller hardware issue of some kind.
