Hi everyone,

First, sorry for my bad english, I'll try my best.

So, I have a SSD Intel Pro 6000p running on firmware HP01. I found a firmware updated version (HP03) on hp drivers website.

But when I start the update, a CMD appears and dissapears very quickly... The firmware upgrade is not working.

When I start the firmware update software on an administrator CMD, I have this ouput :

C:\SWSetup\SP81637>irmfuu_7.0.7_win32_PS_HP03.exe

- Intel SSD Pro 6000p Series Opal Ready  -

ModelNumber : INTEL SSDPEKKF512G7H
DevicePath : \\\\.\\PHYSICALDRIVE0
ProductFamily : Intel SSD Pro 6000p Series Opal Ready
Firmware : HP01
SerialNumber : *hided*
Index : 0
Bootloader : Property not found
DeviceStatus : Healthy

Drive will be updated from HP01 to HP03

What can I do to upgrade my SSD firmware. I have some BSODs and I suspect a firmware issue.

Thanks

I have the same error, on the same SSD as this ( Intel Pro 6000p  with HP01 firmware) on an HP Envy 13-ad013na with the same exact error message.

My system is a fresh installation of Windows 10 Pro (removing ALL partitions from the hard drive before installing Windows).

I tried disabling Secure Boot from BIOS, but the same error.

I tried disabling Bitlocker on the drive from Windows, but the same error again.

Not sure if it is looking for some proprietry partition from HP to complete this. If it is loking for a proprietary partition, it's gone because I wiped all the hard drive before installing Windows.

I will look where to open an case with HP on this...

Same issue here. This laptop is an ENVY x360 15m-bq121dx. I installed the origional HDD and tried to run the install, but it failed as well. The SSD does have a clean install though. Not sure what the issue is...

I confirmed that this fails because it's looking for some proprietry partition which comes from HP. I have cloned the drive from another new HP laptop (I can do this because I install several HP laptops) and the SSD firmware updated. I wiped everything again after updating the firmware.

Not sure how you can go about fixing this, but if somehow you manage to get all the original partitions which came with the laptop, through recovery or something, the firmware will update.

I cloned the origional 1TB HDD to the SSD and I get the same error... What is the partiotion table of the drive that you are using. Did you clone the ID as well? my partitions look like this according to TestDisk:

1 P EFI System 2048 534527 532480 [EFI system partition]
2 P MS Reserved 534528 567295 32768 [Microsoft reserved partition]
3 P MS Data 567296 673992703 673425408 [Basic data partition] [WINDOWS]
4 P Windows Recovery Env 673992704 675999743 2007040 [Basic data partition]
5 P MS Data 675999744 703277055 27277312 [Basic data partition] [RECOVERY]

I don't have the original hard drive partitions anymore, so I can't tell you. I cloned using Acronis True Image from an identical SSD which was on a new laptop. The drive was the same, an Intel SSD from an identical laptop, an Envy 13.

I was able to get the firmware to install using a Windows to Go USB HDD. The version of W10 on my external is 1703  in case that matters. I booted to it and ran the FW upate and it PASSED!

Comfirm this one works for me as well.

Guide:

You must be on Windows 10 Version 1703.

Download WinToUSB tool
Download Windows 10 Version 1703 at http:/windowsiso.net.
Create a Widows To Go bootable USB drive using WinToUSB using 1703 ISO.
The process didn't work with Fall Creators Update for example for me.

Boot the system on the created USB drive and run the HP/Intel update tool irmfuu...

From Command promt as Administratior:

I wanted to confirm that this process fundamentally worked for me on an Envy 13-ad173 with bios F.22.

I had to go into the bios and enable legacy boot and dissalbe secure boot.  On first boot after making these changes don't hit esc until it prompts you to confirm disabling secure boot.  After this I can then use the esc to get to the startup menu and then use f9 to go to the boot selection and start the boot from the usb drive.  I couldn't access the internal drive so had to download the SP81637.exe file again.  executing it by right-click and running as administrator worked for me.  I did not have to use command shell.

It would appear that the HP modification to the Intel firmware has a built in conflict with some other HP software.

I despise these custom modifactions to vendor firmware.  Intel clearly has updated firmware, probably several new versions, but yet we are stuck until HP decides to spend time to allow us to get updated.  Even then it will likely be another hack job like this HP03 version is.
