I'm wondering if this machine has an M2 slot for an NVME SSD, and whether it can boot from that slot if it has one. Trying to decide if I want to buy it, as off the shelf, there's only a 500 GB HDD in there.

Hi,

It does not have an extra slot for M2 SSD. You could replace the hard drive with a 2.5" SSD of your desired capacity.

Hope it helps,

Thanks, David. While I'm willing to take your word for it, the manual indicates that it does have M2 capacity, and the specs page only states that it comes preloaded with a 2.5" HDD. With that said, it appears that the manual is meant to cover all sizes/models of the x360, so perhaps bigger ones have the M2 slot and the 11" does not?

You're welcome.

Basically the SSD is placed where the hard drive is in your notebook.

and you have a Pentium CPU which usually do not come with M2 port. Only I believe the very latest Pentium models have that option.

However, you could take a quick look if the slot is present, On page 28 of service manual you can see how to remove the top cover to take a quick look.

If the slot is present, you could install an M2 SATA 3 SSD instead of the Hard Drive.

Hope it helps,

David

OK, thanks, David. I appreciate the help. I think I'll buy the machine then decide which route to go with the SSD when I pull it apart.
