Envy x360: 15m-bp012dx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello.

I own a HP Envy x360 laptop

Model number:15m-bp012dx

Product Number: 1KS73UA#ABA
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz
System Memory: 12GB
Slot 1: 4GB Samsung 2133MHz
Slot 2: 8GB SK Hynix 2133MHz
System Board: 8313 32.25
System BIOS: F.44
Hard Disk Drive: HGST HTS721010A9E630 - 931.51 GB

I understand I can add a SECOND hard drive to this device in the form of an SSD.  Is this correct?  If so can someone tell me which SSD drive would be compatible with this unit?

My idea is to install the SSD as a second drive an then clone my OS onto the SSD and leave the existing 1TB HDD for use as a file store only as I understand that is the best way to get a performance boost on the laptop.

@erico or anyone?

Thank you.

Hi,

Your notebook supports M2 SSD. You can use either an M2 SATA3 SSD or a much faster M2 PCIe NVMe SSD

Example:

https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/envy-x360-15m-bp012dx/CT13539045

On page 34 of service manual you can see the steps to install the drive:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05527167

You can use the software which the manufacture of the SSD provides to clone the drive (Example: Acronis for Crucial, Data migration software for Samsung)

Or you can perform a clean install of Windows on the SSD.

Hope it helps,

David

Thank you very much for this information David.  It is extremely useful and exactly what I was hoping to learn.  Will order the relevant part from crucial and once installed will post back to mark as solved or alternatively look for more help.

Best,

Monx
