Hello there,
I have HP Pavillion p001 tx model with Windows 10 OS on my HDD. I want to upgrade my hard disk for performance. I have not physically opened my laptop to check the connections to motherboard thus having some confusion regarding upgrades.
1. Does this model support M.2 SATA 3 connectivity ? If Yes, which SSD i should go for which is natively compatible with HP system? My preference is for 250 GB upgrade.
2. Does this laptop have GE 3X4 connectivity for installing NMev SSD? Do i only need GE 3X4 protocol support for NMev. Can i install M.2 NMev SSD anyhwere else?
3. The third option left is removing optical drive and installing existing HDD in caddy for storage and replacing HDD with SSD. Please suggest maximum range of SSD i can go upto? Also what thickness caddy i will require for this model make. 9.5 mm or higher?

I wouldn't be able to confirm that.
Theoretically, any quality 2.5" SSD will work...Samsung, WD, Sandisk...I have Sandisk SSD's in a couple different model HP notebooks.
Crucial guarantees compatibility, and they sell models with the adapter, which is why I posted the link to their site.
I have installed 7.0mm SSD's in notebooks that have 9.5mm caddies, and everything lines up fine.
You just have to line up the holes where the screws go into the caddy.

Hi:
Your only option in your model is #3. Replace the 2.5" mechanical hard drive with a 2.5" SSD.
A 7.0mm SSD should work just fine in the existing caddy. There will just be a little space on top and bottom of the caddy.
Below is the link to the service manual...

If you are concerned about the caddy, Crucial sells SSD's that come with the 9.5mm adapter.
Get one of the MX models which are better performing SSD's.
