Pavilion g6 notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have HP pavilion g6 notebook. It is running on Windows 10. It has 4gb RAM & 500 GB HDD. I want to upgrade it with SDD to increase the processing speed to use my Laptop for computer aided drafting work.

Wanted to know if SDD upgrade will help to speed up my Laptop?

Which SDD's are compatible with my laptop?

SSD (solid state drive)...the only kind you can use is a 2.5 inch SATA type. Like this:

https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-2-5-Inch-Internal-MZ-75E250B-AM/dp/B00OAJ412U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=...

This is the same size and shape as a laptop hard drive so is a drop-in replacement. Many ways to clone the software or reinstall but best to plan that in advance.

Will the SSD help with CAD type work? To some extent. The laptop will boot up much faster and programs will load much faster. However an SSD has no impact on computing work that is done in the CPU or GPU like gaming for example and 3D design work is similar to gaming in that way. Upgrading to 8 gigs of RAM would have perhaps a more positive impact on CAD.

The SSD upgrade is still very worthwhile in general.

Hi,

Yes it definitely would.

I'll recommend this: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147373&FM=1
