What would be a suitable SSD upgrade for this existing 1TB HDD unit to make it quieter and faster than currently configured?  Unit has 8GB memory.

Hello @DrScience2,

According to your PC's Upgrading and Servicing Guide, you do have the option for a gumstick SSD. This manual is different from a normal Maintenance and Service Guide so it doesn't seem like it specifies actual hardware options.

Fortunately, Crucial has 100% compatible M.2 SSD options for this device: http://www.crucial.com/usa/en/compatible-upgrade-for//hp-24-f0047c-all-in-one

You can choose to swap out the existing HDD for an SSD but I would prefer installing an M.2 SSD. Then clean install Windows 10 on the M.2 SSD and use the HDD for storage.

Steps to installation are located on pages 19-21 of the manual posted above.

Hope this helps,

Eddy
