Ultrabook HP ENVY 6-1103el
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

hello to everyone,

I am about to upgrade the hard drive of my  Ultrabook HP ENVY 6-1103el with an SSD, would it be better to remove the internal Msata and replace only the old hard disk with a brand new ssd, or leave the msata 32 GB and replace only the old drive? or upgrade the msata only, if this is the best option to gain speed, what is the maximum size accepted by the main board?

Hi Fabio,

The best idea, in my opinion, is to remove both drives and insert a 2,5" SATA3 SSD such as the Samsung 860 Evo or similar.

On page 46 of the service manual you can see the steps to replace the drive:

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03590555

You can get of your desired capacity

Example:

https://www.amazon.it/Samsung-MZ-76E500B-Unit%C3%A0-Interna-Grigio/dp/B078WST5RK/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?__m...

You will need to install the OS on the SSD. YOu can perform a clean install by creating bootable media directly from Microsoft. You do not need product key as Windows will activate once installed and connected to the internet.

Hope it helps,

David
