SSD upgrade

I am writing because I have a serious question regarding an upgrade I want to make to my computer. It is an HP 245 G8 Ryzen 5 (1M9L5AV) Notebook, which already has a Toshiba MQ04ABF100 1TB HD disk. My intention is to add an M.2 2280 SSD, but I am not completely sure if this is possible, and if so, what the maximum supported capacity is.

I would really appreciate any guidance on this matter. Thank you in advance for your answers!

Yes there is an M.2 slot right above the battery. The Service manual is here:

It can use an NVME M.2 SSD and you can install any capacity found on the market. 2 TBs are common and 4 TBs can be found. It is Gen 3.0 PCIe, but a Gen 4 can be installed to run at Gen 3.0 speed. The cost is just about the same these days.

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for the answer and the manual. Both are very valuable.

However, fearing to abuse your good disposition, I take this opportunity to ask the following question derived from the above.

According to the technical manual provided, on page 2 of the Product Description, two options are indicated for dual storage configurations:

• 256 GB PCIe solid-state drive + 1 TB 5400 rpm hard drive; or

• 128 GB SATA-3 TLC solid-state drive + 1 TB 5400 rpm hard drive.

In my case, I already have a 1 TB HD. Does this mean that the largest M.2 SSD I can install (without replacing the 1 TB HD) is 256 GB? Or could I install another 1 TB SSD alongside the 1 TB HD?

The list of configurations is not stating what CAN be installed it is listing what a tech might find in the field. That is, the options HP offered on original sale. There is no effective capacity limit either for a SATA hard drive or 2.5 inch SSD or for the M.2 slot. I meant what I said; you can install whatever SSD you can find to buy in the market.
