Are the Crucial T500 or WD SN850X compatible as SSD upgrades for the HP Pavilion 14 Plus ey-0001no laptop in the 4TB size category, or does the device only accommodate single-sided SSDs? Also, what kind of thermal pad would be suitable for improving SSD cooling inside this laptop?

Basically, M.2 NVMe SSDs have no capacity limit. You can upgrade the NVMe SSD up to 4 TB.
Crucial T500 and WD SN850X SSDs should be compatible with your model. You need to buy a single-sided NVMe SSD without a heatsink.
Your service manual (on pages 39-40) states that a bracket with the thermal pad inside is pre-installed atop the M.2 SSD, so you don't need to use a third-party thermal pad.
