My DVD Drive has failed, apart from going online to find the same model to replace it with, is there a newer model, i.e. one that is being fitted in todays Notebooks which will fit?
I would have thought that 'size wise' they would be all the same, it would just be the chipset and software which are different.
My product number is: E6B28EA#ABU

Yes sorry, I did reaise that there were 2 different thicknesses.
I contacted a HP Aurthorised retailer in the UK and they said a compatable replacement was a HP Inc. DV DVD RW DL FX at a cost of £47.50 plus Postage, plus VAT, so in all, about £75.00
I can buy an external drive for £20 - £30 including VAT.
I am going the cheaper route, I rarely use the drive, it's just annoying that it doesn't work.
Thanks for the link to the manual, I have never seen tat before.

Hi,
I myself also rarely use Optical Disc Drive and some of my laptops don't have it. I actually bought an external ODD which supports burning Bluray disces just in case.
Regards.
