It is safe. My company uses notebooks (not 1 machine, thousends of them) with nearly 100% lids closed. At home, I myself use all my laptops with external monitors and their lids are closed.

Does this apply to HP Pavilion Power - 15-cb001nx which has the heat sink between the screen and the keyboard?
I'm afraid to block the heat sink by closing the lid especially while playing games on external monitor.
