HP Notebook 15-BS0xx 1TJ77UA#ABA
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I recently purchased a Samsung 970 PRO 512GB NVMe PCIe for my HP Notebook 15-BS0xx  model#1TJ77UA#ABA. After installing, the Laptop/PC would not turn on nor boot. The power light comes on. The drive light flashes quickly then shuts off. Once the card has been removed everything works normal. Is there some type of compatibility issue or can this pc be adjusted to use the pcie card. Please help.

I just installed a Samsung Evo 970 Plus into an HP 14-df0023cl about two hours ago. However, that model is compatible with PCIe/NVME M.2 SSD and yours is not. Here's the Service Manual:

Manual

See p. 3. Only SATA SSDs are listed. On models that will take PCIe/NVME there is a section listing those, too. Yours is SATA compatibility only so you are going to have to take the 970 back and get a Samsung 860 Evo M.2 or really anything else SATA. The SATA M.2s have very broad compatibility and the performance is in a very narrow range unlike the NVME kind that can vary 50% or more in speed between the low-end and high-end kind. Good luck and post back with any more questions and lastly, please accept as solution so this can be found more easily from a search engine and keep others from trying to install NVME M.2s into this model series. Thanks.

As per the Service Guide, your Notebook has been tested with the following SSDs

Link: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c05493257

HP cannot guarantee the functionality or performance of other Hard drives or SSDs. Since the Notebook is working fine without the Hard drive then it is likely to be a compatibility issue with the Hard drive

Thank you 😊

Are there any known / compatible samsung PCIe M.2 SSD that will work with my HP 15-bs080wm. It seems that I've read it somewhere in the forum like the samsung plus but cant seem to locate the post. Anyone know of any?

HP cannot guarantee the functionality or performance of other hard drives that have not been tested as per the Service Guide.

Samsung hard drives are known to work but it would be wise to check it directly at the store before purchasing the Hard drive 😊

You did not quite answer my question. Has anyone been successful installing and booting a Samsung m.2 NVMe ssd or any NVMe ssd in this model HP 15-bs. If so what steps were taken. Does the BIOS need updating. I'm a novice at this and need all the help I can get.
