HP Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0053wm
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is a Pavilion x360 - 15-cr0053wm. It was configured with a 16GB optane module 4GB ram and 1TB 5400RPM.

I recently added this . Crucial RAM 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR4 2666 MHz CL19 Laptop Memory CT2K8G4SFRA266 and the 970 EVO plus 1TB

I disabled the Optane memory and shut down computer and installed the Evo plus ssd.  I got the SSD installed and formatted and windows sees it, but I can't

install the SAmsung NVME drivers and the magician software won't work properly with the SSD.

The are the errors I get when installing the nvm drivers.

Samsung NVM express device is not connected.connect the device and try again.

In magician. Samsung ssd 970

Driver | Intel corporation 17.11.0.1000

The device is connected to the driver that magician does not support. recommended use Microsoft or Samsung nvme drivers.

In device manager the Evo 970 is using microsoft drivers.

Can anyone help me with getting the Samsung NVME drivers installed and magician to work with the EVO?

Thanks.

Are you looking to do a clean new install of Windows on your new drive, or cloning your existing 1TB HDD to it?

This has been discussed here: Solved: Upgrading a system with HDD and Optane memory to an SSD or N... - HP Support Community - 689...  in the forum, hope that it helps!

Note: If you plan to retain your SATA HDD for additional storage, re-format it.  Otherwise, you may encounter boot issues.

I was planning on using Samsung migration to clone HDD to SSD, but that still leaves the problem with the Samsung NVME drivers not being able to be installed and the Samsung magician software not working right.  I do have an external USB Blu-Ray ray drive and a win 10 installation disk. to do clean install.

With the optane memory removed, is it still necessary to have the intel RST software installed.  Is that software and Intel driver(s) causing my problem with the Samsung NVME driver?

Thanks.

You would need to disable Optane in bios and in Windows. Use Intel RST in windows  following the instructions here- https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c05591811  scroll down to the section "How do I enable or disable the Intel Optane memory with Intel RST?"

Thanks for the reply.  I had already found that webpage.  I disabled Optane in windows, but hp has seen fit to deny me access to sections of the bios of MY computer.

To make this short, I installed the NVME SSD  and removed the 5400 HDD. I installed a fresh copy of Win 10 on the SSD.  I am up and running with an up to date Win 10 and it seems to run very well.  I still can't install the Samsung NVME drivers and Samsung Magician software still doesn't work right.  I still receive all the same error messages from my original post.

I also have this in other devices.

The above devices have been remedied.  The 970 Evo Plus problems still exist

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
