I bought a Samsung SSD 990 pro but it doesn't run at gen4 speeds. I don't find anything related in my bios setting to change the gen speed.

any ideas how to run it at the gen 4 speeds?

Hello Aäron.

Unfortunately in some cases Samsung drives won't work correctly or can't be seen at all by HP laptops. There have been some posts here on the forum, and it usually ends up with the user exchanging the SSD for another brand. The high-end ultra fast gaming Samsung drives are the ones most prone to having this issue. In your case, the only thing that's worth trying is using Samsung Magician to set "Performance Mode".

Trying the difference performance modes in magician doesn't change that much.

but i think it was a misreading from magician. i installed crystal disk info and there it was saying that its running at PCIe 4.0 x4.

I was did also a migration from original drive to the new samsung drive and the 4k allignment was not set right for the partition, so i change it, and have already a better score then before. the RND4KQ32T16 Write score is a bit low scoring. but after all i think i used the M.2 almost at full speed now.
