We've ordered two identical HP 15s-fq2707TU laptops from an official HP store. One came with Samsung 512 GB SSD, another - with Kioxia 512 GB SSD. I noticed the SMART warnings in system notifications on the one with Samsung SSD and decided to investigate.
The warning is due to the SSD heating over 80C, and it's enough to reboot or install updates for it to reach that. The Kioxia on the other laptop does not heat or generate any SMART warnings. It's easy to reproduce with a simple perf test, it takes less than a minute for Samsung, while Kioxia stays at 60-65C the while time,
When Samsung SSD reaches 80C, it throttles itself, and as the result, the speed is much slower.
Is it a problem with Samsung SSDs or an assembly issue with HP failed to install heat sink properly, if any? The SMART error goes back to normal when SSD cools down.

Welcome to our HP User Forum!
Sorry to hear about your overheating issue -it appears your Samsung SSD is defective. It should never reach these kinds of excessive temperatures.
Since your laptop is still under warranty, I would contact HP and file a warranty claim. This link explains the steps hoe to do that: How To Claim HP Manufacturer Warranty [Pro Hacks] (donotpay.com).

Yes, that's what I was thinking - absolutely abnormal. And HP support is giving me hard time asking me to run more tests via F2 boot menu, that of course pass because they first check SMART status, and only after that verify surface and put some load the SSD. And refuse to escalate to someone who can actually understand that what I've already got them already indicates the problem.
And I've got another laptop with the same Samsung SSD drive, and the same problem.
No more HP.... They were reputable company once, but now even Acer offers better support.
