Hi all, I simply want to know if my laptop supports sata3, i want to install a sandisk extreme pro 480 gb ssd.

I have spoken to two people from hp on the phone at separate times, one said yes to sata3 and the other said only sata1.

As fustraiting as the slow hdd i have.

 

please help.

         https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php

 

and look at the bottom left.

Hi,

 

Can't be SATA I but you can definitely use SATA III which be backward compatible with SATA II. Nearly all SSD's are SATA III now therefore you won't be wrong with that. No information form its manual but you can check yourself using the following tool

 

       http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/pc-wizard.html

 

It will shows the similar information (6Gb/s is SATA 3):
