Sata 6 SSD Compatability with Compaq 6710b

I get this error message at attempted boot of new Sata 6  WD Blue SSD 500 GB hard drive:

Non-system disk error...replace and strike any key when ready

Please comment on compatability issue

Hi:

I installed an Intel 535 120 GB SSD  SATA III (6.0 GB/s) in a HP 6910p with the same chipset as yours and it worked fine.

So a SSD should work.  Whether or not only certain brands work, that I do not know.

Did you install an operating system on it? 

That is usually the error notice you get when the operating system is missing.
