Hello,
I have several HP laptops and was looking to upgrade the screen from the installed 720p to a full 1080p one on my favourite which is the 245 G8 so I bought a generic 1080p panel from eBay. It wouldn't work in the 245 G8 despite fitting perfectly and having the correct connector, all it did was light up the backlight and didn't display any boot messages or the operating system.
Before I returned it to the seller as non-functional I tried it in the 14s-dq0012na and it worked perfectly.
So was I just unlucky with this specific screen or does the 245 G8 not support 1080p panels?
Thanks,
Glen

Hi, Glen:
According to the service manual the notebook does support a FHD display but it uses a different cable.
See chapter 3, page 18 & 19 for the display panel and display cable part numbers.
Raw display panel: FHD, antiglare, UWVA HP part # M28173-001
Display cable: FHD display HP part # L24493-001
You might just need to replace the cable or you may need both.
