HP Recommended
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello,

I am having issues while connected to a docking station. I Have an HP E273 monitor connected to a USB C 3.0 dock (i-tec C31HDMIDPDOCKPD65), which is in turn connected to the USB-C port of my HP Envy x360 Convertible 15-cn1001nn laptop.

The dock provides 65W of external PD and works perfectly fine except for the display.

The main issue is that the E273 display randomly “turns off” for a brief second (or more) at random intervals. The screen blacks out and then it turns on again. This can happen many times in a row (let’s say 5 times in 10 seconds) or it can lose signal for 5 seconds straight.

The screen does not actually turn off, since when this happens the menu is operational and the power LED is on, but it loses the video feed (with no signal lost notification). I have tried VESA certified DisplayPort cables and good quality HDMI cables – to no avail. No cable configuration works well when plugged in to the dock.

If the monitor bypasses the dock and is connected to the laptop HDMI port directly, it works perfectly well.

Troubleshooting so far:

  • I have updated the iGPU and discrete graphics drivers
  • I have tried all signal and power modes on the display itself
  • I have updated the chipset drivers
  • I have installed the latest BIOS version
  • I have tried different cables and different port options
  • I have tried a different version of the dock (dual DP)

None of this worked

Config from HWinfo64:

  • OS: MS Windows 10 Home (x64) Build 19044.1526 (21H2)

  • CPU: Intel Core i7-8565U
  • Platform: BGA 1528

  • Board: 850D, version 70.76
  • BIOS Version: F.25
  • System BIOS version: 15.25

iGPU: Intel UHD 620

  • PCIe v2.0 x0 (5.0 GT/s) @ [DISABLED]
  • Driver version: 30.0.101.1340
  • Driver date: 03-Feb-2022

Discrete Graphics: Nvidia GeForce MX150

  • PCIe v3.0 x4 (8.0 GT/s) @ x4 (8.0 GT/s)
  • Driver version: 30.0.14.9729 (GeForce 497.29)
  • Driver Date: 15-Dec.2021

USB Ports:

See attached pictures. These should be related to the dock (the mouse and keyboard are connected to it).

There's something weird going on – the dock is connected to a USB C port (port 4, page 4 of the manual), which should be 3.0, while the speed of the devices connected state it’s operating on 2.0 speeds.

I have tried the same chain with a different HP laptop (an AMD build) and the issue was not so severe (single flash once a couple days).

Is there anything that can be done?

Best,

D.
