I've been having a lot of problems with this laptop I bought less than a month ago that is unfortunately past the return period already. It's an HP Envy 16-h1053dx running Windows 11.

The screen will just start flickering, as in a very fast modulation in brightness, not going black or weird colors or anything. I've noticed it usually starts up when the computer is warm. It doesn't necessarily go away when the computer cools back down, though, and sometimes it will stick around for days before going away randomly. It's more noticeable and disruptive when using a higher brightness and when something that doesn't have a plain white background is on the screen. After switching between windows or adjusting the brightness, the flickering stops for about a second before kicking in again. It doesn't occur in the BIOS menu or safe mode.

HP phone and chat support hasn't been very helpful. They tried updating the display drivers, which I had already tried, and then they had me do a factory reset of the computer that they were absolutely certain would solve the problem (it did not). It seems like the next step is going to be sending my computer off for who knows how long to possibly get fixed or maybe just get returned still having the problem. I'd really like to avoid being without a computer for that long.

Does anyone have any idea what's going on? Most things I've looked up have said it's probably an issue with a display driver or the wires going to the screen. But everything I've tried with the display drivers (updating, rolling back, reinstalling, etc.) hasn't worked, and if it was a hardware issue, it seems like it would still happen in the BIOS menu and safe mode. One old thread I found mentioned flickering could be caused by the computer having 2 graphics cards, but it was very light on the details.
