Hello,
my brother recently had an issue where one of the screws on his HP laptop broke off. The head (but not the shank) of one of the screws that hold the top left corner (When the laptop is oriented normally) broke, and the cover now rises when the laptop is to be closed.
This isn't much of an issue for the meanwhile because the university semester just ended.
I have a few pictures here:
Unfortunatly, our screwdriver that we use for small electronics cannot move the screw head, and it appears to be stripped by whatever force sheared the head off.
I'm not sure how to extract the screw, or what methods are typically used in electronics when something like this happens.
According to the service manual, it looks like the replacement screw is a 2.5 x 6.5mm screw. I don't know where to get another one, but the closest I could find off the top of my head was here: https://www.boltdepot.com/Product-Details.aspx?product=17857
Service Manual for the Dv7:
How can I replace the screw and what approach should I use?

Hello,
I used the contact us tool, but it just sends me back to the suport forum. I entered the product and serial codes and it ust sends me back here.
I have a machine shop with a drill press/bandsaw/welder etc. So I can probably handle getting the screw out. I just need to know what approach I should take.

@PhysicistSarah
Please do not damage any hardware component while replacing the screw.
And, also you go by HP service center locator option in order to service the computer.
Keep me posted for further assistance.
