HP 15-db1029ur laptop

I consider to buy HP 15-db1029ur laptop, but I heed some advice about its internals first.

It includes 256 GB SSD by default, which is cool for system partition, but I certainly want more storage space for data. I wonder, does it have free SATA port and slot/space for additional 2,5" HDD?

Also, I've found on this forum that it have 2 RAM slots on mainboard, could anyone confirm that?

@Brittlin

Machine has room for a normal 2.5" HDD or SSD and requires   Hard drive bracket part # L20455-001. It also has 2 slots of RAM, supports 32GB (2 x 16GB) max. You can upgrade to

(a) 8GB : add 4GB to slot 2

(b) 12GB: add 8GB to slot 2,

(c) 16GB: use 2 x 8GB on both slots,

(d) 32GB: use 2 x 16GB on both slots

Using following compatible RAM

    https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-db1029ur/CT14715060    (4GB)

    https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-db1029ur/CT14715037    (8GB)

    https://www.crucial.com/usa/en/hp-15-db1029ur/CT14715052    (16GB)

Regards.

Finally bought the 15-db1029ur one!

For my releef, It indeed contains 2 RAM slots, surprisingly one of them is taken by 4G Micron 2666 MHz module, not  the 2400 MHz one.

About second HDD - it's more complicated than I thought... The mainboard doesn't have the 22-pin SATA connector (though there are tiny holes on mainboard side just there it should've be), but instead have 13-pin SATA connector in place for DVD.

So now I have some options:

  1. Forget about it and use external HDD. With USB 3.0 it shouldn't be much slower than SATA, but I really don't want to carry it with me all the time... Nor have important things e.g. my /home partition on it.
  2. Use HDD caddy for DVD, which will require removing of plastic baffles (is there a more proper English word for it?) from laptop's bottom cover which currently fill the place for absent DVD drive and do some custom bracing. Good thing is that HDD caddy is easy to find on Aliexpress.
  3. Use adapter like that https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/32722882776.html?spm=a2g0v.12010612.8148356.6.2b5a1ad2LROQ0s to connect HDD to 13-pin SATA slot, remove some (but not all) plastic baffles from DVD area, do some custom bracing.
  4. Use mentioned bracket L20455-001 plus SATA 22-pin to 13-pin wired adapter like that https://ru.aliexpress.com/item/32856419855.html?spm=a2g0o.detail.1000014.19.fc511cb8rvhHOv&gps-id=pc... to install second HDD in HDD "bay". This looks  much simplier to implement, than option 2 and 3. But 30 cm looks too long... and I doubt that there will be enough space between HDD connector and mainboard for custom adapter and its wire.

I would be glad to hear your opinions!
