The below suggested resolution was provided back in 2012 and I wanted to know if it is applicable for a secondary battery replacement? I have a purchased a replacement for Battery # 2 (auxiliary) and it is not charging.
See previous suggestion below, but if you have any other ideas that would be helpful before I return it; that would be great. Thanks.

Hello amj205. I understand that your battery is not being detected. Is this correct?
I do believe uninstalling the ACPI driver is a good place to begin. I combined this reinstallation with a hard reset so make sure to perform these steps exactly.
- Open Device Manager (with both AC power and battery connected).
- Expand the battery section.
- Uninstall all compenants listed here.
- Shut down the notebook.
- Remove battery and AC power.
- Press and hold power button for one full minute.
- Replace battery ONLY.
- Boot the notebook and allow Windows to reinstall the drivers.
- Verify that this resolves the issue and post the result.
Let me know the result. I hope you have a great rest of the day!
