My lid is splitting every time I close my laptop. I can't say for sure, but one of the clips looks broken, so that might be the reason. No idea how this has happened, I never dropped or bumped it into anything. Can I keep using the laptop and simply press the lid back into place when it separates? Or Is this a serious issue that I should be worried about and get it fixed? If so, will it be necessary to replace the entire display assembly or can it be fixed by replacing just the plastic? I bought this laptop in 2022 so the warranty is long gone. 20260109_172333.jpg20260109_183319.jpg

The cause is more than likely screen hinges. They can stiffen over time and start breaking plastic parts. It will only get worse and if you get it fixed early it is not as expensive as it is going to become. The screen is likely fine and it looks like the plastic parts at this point are just coming apart and not yet broken
