I bought and installed a new battery. Someone told me that I shouldn't have the laptop always connected to AC  power because that's bad for the battery. Any recommendations or thoughts?

You should not have the battery plugged in all the time. It risks causing the battery to swell. However, the risk can be minimized by removing AC power, letting it run down to say 15-20% then charging back up. Do that maybe once a month.

Also occasionally run the battery health diagnostic test from HP Support Assistant. Other than that, the battery needs very little supervision and should work well for you.

Thank you. That was exactly what I needed to know.
