Mostly will be used for programming (computer engineering major)

Msi cyborg 15 :intel core i7 12650H, 16gb ram, 512 gb ssd, geforce 4060 8gb for 1200$

Hp laptop 15 HP 15 DW3170nia Intel®️ Core™️i7-1165G7, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, NVidia MX450/2GB for around 800$

Ofc msi is very good but since i won't use it for gaming is it worth it to get the msi for 400$ more or will the hp satisfy my needs?

Your question is outside of the intended scope of the forum.

 

You would be better served by asking someone who has already been through a few years in your Computer Engineering curriculum. 

 

A teacher or professor would be a perfect candidate to ask.
