I recently updated Simplepass because I was having some problems ("The device is not connected ..."). I would tell you the version number but there's no Help/About.
In the past when my HP Envy was asleep, I'd tap the spacebar and the fingerprinter reader would blink, I'd swipe, and I'd be in.
Now, here's what happens:
1. Tap spacebar
2. Swipe
3. Fingerprint reader flashes once
4. Nothing else happens
5. Tap spacebar again
6. Windows displays password edit box
7. Swipe
8. I'm in
Was there some reason this was made significantly less convenient?
I created a restore point prior to updating. Maybe I go back to that.

Here's an update:
I decided the best solution was to just swipe my finger twice. The time and danger involved in uninstalling/reinstalling was not worth it. It would take more time than just swiping twice.
However, sometimes Simplepass failed.
So, I followed your instructions, starting with uninstalling SimplePass.
When I rebooted, a Windows message made me realize that I didn't need SimplePass at all. I just set up my fingerprint in Windows Hello, and now it works as it should.
That is, I tap the spacebar, then swipe my finger--done.
Thanks for your help. My recommendation to others dealing with this: Uninstall SimplePass.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the finger printer reader for login is not working correctly after the Windows update.
I’d love to help!
Uninstall the simple pass software from the computer and restart the computer. Download and install the software again from the below link.

Thanks for the help.
Before I do that, can you confirm that this is a known issue?
In the past, I've had big problems with SimplePass. Right now it's working, although in an inconvenient way. I don't want to jeopardize that.
Also, the time and bother of uninstalling, rebooting, installing is greater than a year's worth of pressing the spacebar twice.
In other words, if this is a known issue and the solution you suggested is known to fix it, I'll follow your suggestion.
If you are suggesting an uninstall/reinstall because it might work, I'll continue to limp along with the way it is now.
Is anyone else seeing this?
Thanks,
Al

Via TaskManager, I've been able to figure out what version I have.
I have version 8.1.0.62, which would seem to be a newer version than the one in your download link (sp71729 HP SimplePass V8.01.46A W7-W10 32/64bit).
Knowing that, should I download the earlier version and replace my version with it?
Thanks,
Al
