Hello thanks for replying, downloaded the drivers but how do I setup the fingerprint sign upother than to go through windows hello?
Short Answer:
You do not set up fingerprint login without having gone through the Windows Hello > PIN > enable fingerprint.
The fingerprint reader must be enabled before it can be used.
Windows 10 fingerprint login is considered "Primary" -- in most cases, it is necessary to set up the Windows 10 fingerprint login before you proceed to other / additional fingerprint programs.
Longer Answer:
I don't know the answer to your situation.
In general, everything works much better when you have installed the necessary HP Drivers for Windows 10. Your system's Driver Support page does not provide HP Windows 10 Drivers.
In general, it is necessary that you set up and enable the fingerprint reader and fingerprint login within Windows 10 before you install HP SimplePass.
- Install the fingerprint Driver provided in the previous post
- Reboot the computer and log in
- Create the PIN number and enable the fingerprint reader

Commentary
In general, after the Windows 10 fingerprint login is working, then you install HP SimplePass.
The repeated use of the words "In general" is deliberate.
Without the HP infrastructue that would normally be provided by the installation of HP Drivers for Windows 10, the initial fingerprint setup is entirely dependent on the Windows 10 Operating System file structure. This is not ideal.
In other words, things may not proceed as you expect.
To make it more complicated, IF the initial fingerprint login setup does not work, then - in an attempt to get the fingerprint login working -- you may need to install HP SimplePass before the fingerprint login is functional.
Installing HP SimplePass before the fingerprint login is functional is not ideal:
- Throwing the SimplePass program into the mix may work (fix the problem) -- or installing SimplePass on top of a non-functional fingerprint login setup may not help at all
If installing HP SimplePass fails:
- Installing HP SimplePass before the fingerprint login is functional may cause the User (you) to believe the failure is due to HP SimplePass (when the underlying cause of the failure lies elsewhere).
The issue may be the lack of an updated Validity Sensor fingerprint Driver.
If you like, try / consider using a different Driver. Although not specifically rated for your system, the device type is the same and the proposed Driver supports a wide variety of systems / hardware.
Download:
sp58900 Validity Sensor V4.4.234.0 W8-W8.1
- Uninstall AND delete the existing fingerprint Driver from the Device Manager
- Shut down the system (complete off condition)
- Boot the computer and log in
- Install athe downloaded Driver
- Restart the computer and log in
- Check for any difference.
Relevant Steps are iterated in Document Section:
- Order of Events
Good Luck.

You are at a disadvantage because there are not Windows 10 HP Drivers for your migrated system.
Nonetheless, it may still work...
- MAKE REAL SURE that you can log into your computer using a password.
- If you are the least concerned that your computer will lock you out, create an extra account that includes admin priveleges. The "extra account" should be a local account. Verify that you can log into the account and that it has the appropriate privelege to control the computer.
Download this Driver:
sp58869 Validity Sensor Driver V4.4.234.0 W8-W8.1/64bit
- Create a Restore Point
- Open the Device Manager > Biometrics > Right-Click on your Validity Sensor > Uninstall
- Install the downloaded driver
- Restart the computer
Be sure when you are trying to set up the Windows fingerprint login that you have assigned a PIN number -- Windows security requires that you assign a PIN to enable the fingerprint reader.
In most cases, if the setup is going to work, that is, you can use your fingerprint to log in, then the Windows login will be the first software to start working.
Regardless of whether you can get the Windows 10 fingeprint login working, at some point you will want to install HP SimplePass. In a fraction of cases, it is necessary to install the HP SimplePass program to get the fingerprint login working at all.
At this writing, the latest HP SimplePass program (that is rated for Window 10) is:
sp76923 HP SimplePass V8.01.62A W7-W10 32/64bit
Download the program > Install the package > Reboot the computer

Rats. I admit I am guessing -- the hidden issue might be "just there" and I am missing it.
If the setup shows a message similar to "Add another" in Sign-in options for fingerprint, select to "remove all" and start over.
If all else fails, try using SimplePass with the PIN.
PIN method is not as nice as being able to swipe your fingeprint; if it works, the method can allow you to use the SimplePass program.

You are welcome, John.
Things change -- try again in a while in case Windows 10, the fingerprint Driver, and / or SimplePass are updated... what does not work now may have a change later.
