So I'm currently facing a problem.
When my laptop is working on battery the CPU clock stays at 3ghz
But as soon as i plug it into the AC the CPU clock goes down to 800mhz
I have already reinstalled windows, updatet the bios and the drivers to the newest versions.
I've also went into the enery section from the control panel and set the minimum processor status to 90% but it didnt help
The laptop is runnning at 45c so it isnt a cooling problem..
Is there anyway to fix this?

It would really help if you provided the complete product name or product number.
So far you haven't done that. Try the keystroke detailed in my signature while logged into Windows to locate the product number.
Kindly post it in your next reply in your thread.
BTW. set the power option in Windows 10 to Performance instead of the default and that should take care of the low clock speed

Are you signed in as an Administrator?
If you are not, there will always be tasks that you are unable to perform in managing your operating system.
I suggest that you use the control panel and then click on Power options. Once you are there, choose a high performance power plan.
The post in the following external tutorial is worth a read. You can use the powercfg command at a command prompt to adjust the processor speed to its maximum.

Consider updating the Intel processor driver
There is also a processor diagnostic tool from Intel at the website that may help.

Thank you for replying!
i've updated the CPU drivers and downloaded & ran the diagnostic tool, which didnt find any problems with the cpu. So thats nice...
Sadly the driver update did not fix the low clock speed.
I've read on other forums that people use a program called "ThrottleStop" which basicly deleted the protections so the CPU clock will stay at a stable high speed...
If I am going to use a third party software for this (Since HP never fixed this problem(I've read online that alot of people have this problem)) will this void my warrenty, because if so i will not use that program.
However if I'm not able to find a solution i might consider bringing the laptop to a repair center.
If you do have any more possible solutions I can try, Please do let me know!!
