Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I want to purchase a smart card for my PC so that I can make changes and clean up the hard drive, I have had my computer for a long time and have forgotten my password. How/where can I purchase this item?  Thanks.

@rojowil, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your Smart card!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Just to clarify, are you referring to a Smart Card Reader for authentication, or are you looking for a way to reset your password and regain access to your PC? If it's the latter, you might not need a physical smart card. Instead, you can try:

Resetting Your Password

If you have a password reset disk, you can use it to create a new password.

If you have a Microsoft account linked to your PC, you can reset your password via Microsoft’s password reset page.

Using a Recovery Drive

If you created a Windows 7 recovery disk earlier, you can boot from it and try resetting your password.

I hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
