Hi @152Mia,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.
If your HP laptop is showing a SMART Hard Disk Error, it means the system has detected that your hard drive is failing or is at risk of failing soon. Here's what you can do:
1. Back Up Your Data Immediately
If the system still boots into Windows:
- Copy your important files to an external drive or cloud storage (OneDrive, Google Drive, etc.)
- Do this before doing anything else
If it doesn’t boot:
- You can try booting from a USB recovery drive or a Linux live USB to access your files.
2. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then press F2.
- Run the Hard Drive Test.
If it fails, the drive is confirmed to be faulty.
I hope this helps.
Take care, and have an amazing day!
