I have an issue with my HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop. I plugged it in to the corner charging port and noticed it wasn’t charging. I then switched the charger to the side port where it began smoking and smelled like burning so I immediately unplugged it. After a bit of time, I then tried another charger in a different wall outlet and the same thing happened where the corner port did not charge and the side one began to smoke.
It seems that this is a known issue as I have found many similar posts with HP willing to repair out-of-warranty laptops with this issue as it is a safety concern. I look forward to someone from HP contacting me about this.

I have a similar problem finding my laptop dead after leaving it powered via the corner USB port unattended for few hours. It sounds like you managed to observe the problem occurring in front of you.
Please don't let go with HP because my own experience so far is that HP is distancing itself from taking any responsibility to this product.

Hi @sp202,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you are experiencing smoke coming from the charging port of your HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop, it is important that you immediately unplug the charger from the laptop and discontinue using it. Smoking from the charging port could be an indication of a serious electrical problem, which may cause damage to your laptop or potentially pose a safety hazard.
Here are some steps you can take to address this issue:
Disconnect the charger from the laptop and remove the battery, if possible, to prevent any further damage.
Do not attempt to use the laptop until the issue has been resolved.
In the meantime, do not attempt to open or repair the laptop yourself, as this could be dangerous and may void your warranty. It's important to take this issue seriously and get it resolved as soon as possible to ensure your safety and the safety of your laptop.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
