I'm in the market for a new laptop- my current one, the second laptop I've ever had, is on its last leg. So I've been doing some research on which one I should buy, and I'm hearing very mixed things about the brand HP; plenty of articles say it's one of the best brands, but when I look at the user reviews I get the feeling that HP isn't a good brand at all? One guy wrote "First off, it's an HP. That alone should be the first warning sign. HP uses the worst and cheapest components available, so you're looking right off at a machine which is essentially disposable, the Bic lighter of computers."

But... all the 'Top Ten Laptop Brand' lists act like HP is golden, and there are also plenty of positive reviews on them. So... I'm confused.

Please help! I'm not a tech person at all, and I'd like the tech community's opinion on whether or not HP is actually a good brand. Thanks so much!!!

Welcome to the HP Community --

We are a Peer-to-Peer Forum for people who use HP Technology.

Similar to other community forums, there are several types of people who participate in our HP Community.

For example,

We see those who here to complain, those who are here to ask for help, and those who say little, provide little information, and perhaps ask that we guess about whatever they are doing, using, or seeing.

Unbiased brand comparisons are difficult to judge by reading the content on any forum dedicated to a one particular brand of device.  In the HP Community, Experts, Agents, and Community members specialize in supporting and helping people who use HP devices.

If you want to know what people think think about a brand, consider checking with websites that specialize in Reviews, Product Comparisons.  Many merchant sites include a Review section.

What else?

Lots of people make a living blogging or presenting videos or podcasts about the author's personal opinion about a subject, including personal opinions about computers, phones, printers, and just about any tech device you can imagine.  Read the Comments section where one is provided.

To those reading:

Be wary of solicitations - our mission precludes posting any personal information, for example.

Do not be tempted to share "too much".

Never, never click on any link you do not recognize.

Comments are welcome as long as they continue to adhere to our HP Community - Rules of Participation

Some discussions, for example, comparing device and technology brands and opinions, might be better suited to your favorite Social Media platform.

Thank you for participating in the HP Community --
